Itinerary in detail
Day 1: Hanoi Arrival (-/-/D)
Xin chao! Welcome to Hanoi, Vietnam. Hanoi, one of Asia’s most enchanting cities, full of culture, history and the engaging contradictions of a rapidly developing and deeply traditional society. You are greeted by your guide and driver at Noi Bai International Airport for your transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Hanoi
Day 2: Slices of life in Hanoi full day (B/L/D)
Get ready to see Hanoi as very few others do. This tour is the perfect blend of iconic cultural sites of Hanoi and offbeat districts to sample some genuine local life. The guide meets you in the hotel lobby and off we go. After a short car transfer to the South of Hanoi through a busy urban area, we veer off the main road and enter a very special district. It suddenly feels like stepping back in time, into the 1960s when Hanoi was a quaint capital populated mostly by modest workers. Wander around these narrow alleys covered in
colourful market stalls. We have a coffee break before transferring to the temple of literature. For lunch, we suggest walking to a nearby street food shop. There are several options, our favourite would be the Bun Cha flame-grilled pork meat served with sticky rice noodles. In the afternoon, we continue with the garden of the Presidential Palace, also the place of the one-pillar pagoda and the house on stilts where Ho Chi Minh lived. Afterwards, we have a quick fresh beer in a local Bia Hoi, the Vietnamese version of a pub. After that, visit Hoa Lo Prison built by the French and used during the Indochina War to house Vietnamese patriots, and later during the Vietnam War it held American pilots who were shot down. The small part of the complex still remaining is now a museum with displays where you can learn about the bittersweet history of Vietnam. We return to the hotel in the late afternoon. End of the day at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi
Day 3: Hanoi – Ha Long Bay (B/L/D)
We gather in the lobby at 8.00 am for a departure to Halong. We drive across the Red River delta and reach the coast little before noon. We embark on a beautifully crafted wooden junk for an overnight cruise in the legendary seascape of Halong. Once onboard, we are served a delicious seafood-based buffet lunch, while the limestone rocks are setting up the décor. In the afternoon, we reach a less travelled area and will devote ourselves to relaxation, sunbathing, and visiting a cave. The programme is not fixed and depends on the time of the year and weather. We end the day on the sundeck while the sunsets. It is time for an aperitif or to attend a cooking demonstration before dinner. Overnight in a comfortable private cabin with attached bathroom.

At dawn, an early Tai Chi session is proposed, coffee and tea are served early as well for the early birds wishing to see the beautiful lights of the sunrise before your guided visit to Sung Sot cave, which is not only a beauty spot but also an archaeological site. We return to the boat and brunch is served as we are cruising back to the dock. We disembark and drive to the airport for your departure flight to Da Nang. Landing at Da Nang International Airport, you are greeted at Da Nang airport by a local guide and transfer to your hotel in Hoi An.
Overnight in Hoi An
Day 5: Orientation and food walk around Hoi An half-day (B/L/-)
We start our walk across the enchanting ancient town of Hoi An. Follow your guide as you meander your way through the beautiful streets and narrow alleys, which are bordered by ancient yellow-walled houses. We reach a market where you can spend some time exploring the colourful stalls and the variety of foods and souvenirs on offer. Try some local delicacies before we venture further into the town. The guide will show you various places of interest and will also arrange some spontaneous food tastings as we walk. Food, drinks and culinary legends are all on the menu today.
Overnight in Hoi An
Day 6: Hoi An free day (B/-/-)
A full day at leisure to enjoy some shopping in Hoi An town or to go to the beach. We recommend An Bang beach, located about 4-kilometres North of Hoi An. If you want to try some typical local food, here are some helpful hints: street food addicts, we highly recommend you to get a Banh Mi sandwich at Madam Khanh’s stall (115 Tran Cao Van Street), a legendary Cao Lau soup or a plate of crispy Hoanh Thanh. If you crave seafood, look for the little Huyen Tran Cong Chua street that goes along the river to the East of the Old Quarter; grab a seat at Song Thu restaurant and ask them to hand you a menu with prices on it.
Overnight in Hoi An
Day 7: Hoi An- Saigon (B/D)
Rest at leisure before checking out and transferring to the airport for your flight to Saigon.
Landing at Tan Son Nhat airport. You are greeted by your guide and driver for your transfer to the hotel. Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City is the largest city in Vietnam. It is the bustling economic capital and cultural trendsetter of the country yet holds the timeless traditions of an ancient culture. Overnight in Saigon
Day 8: Cu Chi Tunnels & half-day Saigon city tour (B/L/D)
The guide meets you at your hotel. We depart Ho Chi Minh City and make the first stop en route to visit a family producing rice paper. We continue and reach Cu Chi Tunnels in the mid-morning. After an introductory video, viewing various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters, you will spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels to see how the Viet Cong survived in this underground network. You will have the option to try out war-era guns at a shooting range. Back to Saigon for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Reunification Palace, the former residence of the President of South Vietnam with the “War Room”, where the South Vietnamese forces were controlled, and the room where the North Vietnamese army finally took control in the Fall of Saigon on in 1975. Next visit is the War Remnants Museum, was previously known as the “Museum of American War Crimes” and contains countless artefacts and photographs documenting said crimes – the killing of civilians, spreading of chemicals, torturing of prisoners, and the
effects of the war on the north. Planes, tanks, bombs, and helicopters displayed, and outside the museum are some rooms displaying cultural products of Vietnam. Then head to Notre Dame Cathedral, which was built between 1877 and 1883 with most materials were imported from France. Neo-Romanesque in form, it is a major centre of Catholicism in modern Vietnam, and one of the city’s major landmarks.
Note: Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral from outside only as it’s under renovation till 2020
Day 9: Explore Mekong on its less travelled paths full day (B/L/D)
We depart from your hotel at 8am. We drive out of the city to reach after about 2 and a half hours a less travelled region of the delta, about 30 kilometres away from the mouth of the mighty river. We hop on our private boat and start our exploration. We will meet people, learn more about their daily lives and navigate the Mekong. After visiting a local factory and an ancient communal house, we reach a small island for lunch at a local guesthouse.
In the afternoon, we visit a honey-bee farm before hopping on bikes and cycling narrow pathways across the island. We stop at another local farm to unveil the secret of Sâm jelly and sample it. We continue across orchards and transfer onto a small sampan to explore a thick mangrove. We return to the mainland, where our vehicle awaits for a drive back to Ho Chi Minh city. We arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 10: Saigon Departure (B/-/-)
